This is the story of a dying island, an island that once knew the laughter of children, the songs of worshippers, and the bustling activity of more than a hundred brave men who took their living from the waters that surround it. This book is about Holland Island, and yet it is about all of those islands along the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay.
