The eagles on the front cover speculate on their future from the top of an oak tree in the Adams’ front yard. They have come together to build a nest, as they acquire a better awareness of opportunities below on the Severn River, the Chesapeake Bay, and beyond. These eagles, like the Adams siblings Lynne, David, and Alan Ray, can only imagine what their future holds.

These children develop ideas as they mature. All three, like the young eaglets, ‘learn to fly’, and then leave their nest after reaching adulthood. Their futures result from both planning and serendipity, taking place in Annapolis, MD; Obihiro, Japan; and Mumbai, India.
